UX/UI design
Ancestrytest
Ancestry test
The project goal was to design a user experience and interface of a platform feature where users discover their genetic history, follow the path of their genes over thousands of years, discover how much DNA they share with Neanderthals, and explore their genetic predispositions for a selection of interesting physical traits.
My responsibility on the project was the direction of user experience and UI design. Working with the product manager, stakeholders, and designers. Coordinating, mentoring, delegating tasks, and reviewing designers’ work and their contributions to the project. Also responsible for hands-on delivering wireframes, prototypes creating visual assets, and finalizing the design for handoff.

The objectives
The first objective for this project was to create an MVP product with competitive features and content to meet market needs as well as the release date. The second objective was to design mobile-first to be able to feature the ancestry module in the mobile app.
Main page
We created the main page with inviting result bits instead of a plain menu list.
Explore your ethnicity
Compare how similar your DNA is with different populations from around the world, and reveal which ethnicities predominate in your genome. We researched various map solutions to present the ethnicity composition and visualize the regions.
Discover the Neanderthal in your genes
Learn how much DNA you share with Neanderthals and the traits for which you carry Neanderthal variants.
Trace your maternal lineage
Based on your mitochondrial genome, you can follow the origin of your maternal ancestors and how they moved around the world over thousands of years.
Chromosome painting
The chromosome painting feature is a representation of users’ ethnicity composition results. It is an interactive visualization of the 23 sets of chromosomes that make up one’s genome color mapped by ethnicity groups.
