Oralmicrobiome

Oral microbiome

The Oral Microbiome test is based on the composition of microbial representatives in your saliva sample. The test assesses your oral health and provides nutrition and lifestyle recommendations to improve it.

My responsibility on the project was the direction of user experience and UI design. Working with the product manager, stakeholders, and designers. Coordinating, mentoring, delegating tasks, and reviewing designers’ work and their contributions to the project. Also responsible for hands-on delivering wireframes, prototypes creating visual assets, and finalizing the design for handoff.

Workshops with the target audience

With the R&D team, we made workshops to gain insights about users’ familiarity with the microbiome topic and their needs.

Visualization of the microbiome species and their percentage

One of the main challenges was to find an optimal method to visualize the microbiome results. Results come as a percentage of specific microbial species. These can generally be organized into good, bad, and neutral categories by the role they have in connection to oral diseases. Besides that, there’s a taxonomic scientific organization of the species which we determined as irrelevant to the users.

Oral diseases connection to the microbiome

The workshops also gave us information on what are people’s oral problems and how do they address them. This was our focus and a link between the abstract microbiome world and real-life and a way to deliver value to the users.

User tests

User tests were conducted to identify potential design flaws and comprehensiveness of the content.
